Jaime MacDonald, LPCC, NCC
For over 20 years, Jaime has been dedicated to working with adolescents and their families: teaching, supporting teachers and administrators, coaching sports, and, most importantly, providing a calm that allows both adolescents and adults to process and change disruptive patterns. Jaime’s career beginnings as a special education teacher in public schools and then learning specialist and counselor in Los Angeles independent schools has informed her work as a psychotherapist. Although her natural clinical focus has been the intersection between emotional difficulties and academic and social struggles, her work expands beyond the school years. Academic challenges that arise from learning disabilities and ADHD can expand into adulthood, impacting careers and relationships.
Jaime’s training began in the classroom as a special education teacher for both resource room and in-class support in New Jersey. She was pivotal in the growth of the The Bridge Program, a special education program designed to support high school students with behavioral and emotional difficulties. She has reviewed and disseminated information from hundreds of neuropsychological reports as a learning specialist in multiple LA-area independent schools. Her clinical work includes The Maple Counseling Center, Lifespan Psychological Center, school settings, and private practice. Jaime completed intensive grief training through Our House Grief Support Center. She has presented at CALPCC’s annual conference on the intersection between non-verbal and language-based disabilities and talk therapy. Additionally, Jaime has presented both in person and virtually to parent groups, offering practical tools to enhance parent-child relationships.
Jaime offers individual (adult and adolescent) and family therapy both in-home and through tele-health. Additional services include reviewing IEP/504 accommodation plans and coordinated care for treatment placement. Last, educators hold a special place in Jaime’s heart as she knows, first-hand, the classroom and school experience; therapy services are offered at a reduced fee for educators currently employed in a school setting.
